Camping Ground Fees and Camp Site Prices

The National Park Service (NPS), while considering charging overnight camping visitors, isn't sure if that would be feasible. Luis A. Gastellum emailed George B. Hartzog Jr. in concern about the proposed fee system on Sept 26, 1969. In his letter, he urged the agency to continue to consider the idea. The resultant debate lasted until March 1970 when a congressional directive was issued to establish fees.

Private campgrounds aren't subsidized by tax dollars like federal parks, and so charge visitor's fees. The fee covers expenses incurred for visitors, but it is necessary. Many campgrounds agree to charge visitors for the services they provide. Be prepared to pay more for overnight accommodation if you are visiting a popular campground. Although you might be able to negotiate lower rates, expect to pay more for overnight accommodations.

Some campgrounds offer seniors free camping. However, they must adhere to government regulations. Senior citizens are allowed to camp with four spouses or four children. However there are restrictions on group picnics, backcountry, marine fees and day use fees. In addition, a second vehicle must be parked at the same site and pay half of the fee. An additional vehicle must have a valid park tag. For a week, a resident will pay more to park in a state-owned park.

Staying at a campground with no resort amenities is an option if you cannot afford an RV park. Smaller RV parks offer more amenities and are usually cheaper than larger ones. Although the prices will be lower, you'll still have a place to park your RV. If you're willing to sacrifice certain amenities, this can be a great option for you. You may even save money on additional amenities.

Camping pitches can be rented for up to two people. While an awning is not included in the price, some campsites do charge for it. Glimmerglass, for example, has six adult sites and nine children. Site #165, however, charges two adults and five children. The rate of a cabin is generally more expensive, but you'll need to ask the campground about amenities in advance to avoid being charged for additional services or amenities.

There are many factors that affect the cost of camping. The campsite will give each camper an area in a well-known campground. These sites charge between fifteen and thirty dollars per night. In high season, it is possible for groups to be seperated. If a group cancels, the cancellation fee will be determined by the number of participants. Before you arrive, be sure to review the rules.
